Panditji Ka Dhaba

Gurgaon’s Sadar Bazaar is a bustling place at any time of the day. It’s the market for commoners that sells everything from a pin to a plane .. well not quite the case with the real plane but you do get almost everything you need to run your household smoothly and still not burn a big hole in your pocket (that Shopping Malls in Gurgaon will ensure). It is also a haven for food lovers with delicious goods being churned out from small and large eateries spread all over the market. It was a fiery afternoon when I escorted Hindustan Times journalist Chetna Dua & her photographer to have luncheon at one of the most respected Dhabas in Gurgaon’s Sadar Bazaar – “ Panditji Ka Dhaba “. Started in 1951, its a small albeit popular street side eatery that seats barely 15 people on small desks and benches in a fairly cramped space. One has to wait for their turn during lunch hours. Shopping Malls in Gurgaon

The retail sector in India,which was dominated by small and unorganized entrepreneurs consisting of stand alone stores, boutiques and kirana stores, is radically changing its face.There has been a massive development of new retail formats such as malls, hypermarkets, supermarkets and lifestyle stores. Gurgaon is the city where it all started causing a big shift in the culture of Gurgaon as well as the rest of India. Today, there are over 80 malls in Gurgaon city. Notable amongst them are the Ambience Mall (near the Gurgaon-Delhi toll plaza), Sahara Mall, Metropolitan Mall, City Centre Mall, The Metropolis and Plaza Mall, (all on the Mehrauli Gurgaon Road, also known as the Mall Road), Celebrations Mall (near Sohna Road). There is a Mall in Sushant Lok 1 that is focused exclusively on jewellery and is aptly called “Gold Souk”. Dainty Pretty Planters

In the last post (Latent Ladders) I promised we would talk about reusing everyday household objects as planters and here we are again! Technically anything hollow can be used as a planter (yes even a coconut!). However, some objects have something extra special about them that can transform an ordinary sapling into a conversational piece. The teacup bonsai and the fish-bowl water garden are so eye catching that you will want to display them centre-stage in your home. So here is a list of objects that can be used as planters to add that little something to make your gardens and rooms special! Boots, Heels and Crocs: Missing a shoe? Great!
