Bombay Sandwich Recipe – Right from the Streets of Bombay now called Mumbai
Bombay sandwich is an integral part of the Mumbai street food scene as are the liked of bhel puri, batata vada, vada pav, pani puri etc. The sandwich is filling. It will be since it uses a jumbo bread and is packed with butter, cheese, chutney and vegetables. This recipe is my double decker take on the popular snack.
Bombay sandwich is a full meal in itself and leaves you asking for more. Thats besides the point that you are not able to eat anymore. If your ingredients are prepared well in advance, the time to create this magnificent piece of food takes only a few minutes. Check it out how it is done. Have fun making it. Process to make Bombay Sandwich

Get the vegetables prepared
Get all ingredients together
Mix the powdered masalas
Layer Bread Slice with Butter
Apply another layer of green chutney
Sprinkle masala on bread
Layer with potato slices
Apply masala to potatoes
Apply layer of cucumber slices & sprinkle masala
Apply layer of onion slices
Apply layer of two cheese slices
Cover with a buttered slice of bread
Deck two – Apply butter and green chutney
Apply layer of tomatoes
Sprinkle masala on tomatoes
Cover tomatoes with two cheese slices
Your sandwich is ready to be grilled
After three minutes flip it over and let lower layer grill for 3 minutes
Place it on a grilling or frying pan. Apply butter to top

Process to make Bombay Sandwich
- मटन या गोश्त के पीस धो कर सूखा लें।
- टमाटर में एक काँटे से छेद कर लें। हरा धनिया बारीक काट लें।
- घी को प्रेशर कुकर में गरम कर लें।.
- सारे सूखे मसाले, ज़ीरा, तेजपत्ता, दालचीनी, इलाइची, काली मिर्च और सूखी लाल मिर्च को भून लें।
- आँच धीमी कर के टमाटरों और हरे धनिए को प्रेशर कुकर में डाल लें।
- अब हल्दी और लाल मिर्च पाउडर डाल लें।
- मटन या गोश्त को प्रेशर कुकर में डाल लें और हल्का भून लें।
- प्रेशर कुकर का ढक्कन लगा कर उसको ५ सिटी दें।
- प्रेशर को अपने आप निकालने दें।
- अगर मटन पक चुका हो तो हांडी में निकाल कर टमाटर को अच्चे से पिचका लें।
- बॉम्बे सैंड्विच टायर है। इसको थोड़े हरे धनिए से सज़ा लें और ज़ीरा पुलाव और प्याज़ टमाटर के रायता के साथ गरमागरम परोसें।
