Helpline launched for aid to kids of Covid victims

Gurgaon: The district administration on Friday launched a helpline for children, who have become orphans as their parents succumbed to Covid-19. Anyone, who has information of such children can call on 0124-2328288, 9717846669 and 8700454307 and give information about these children, officials said.
Deputy commissioner Dr Yash Garg said that the number of cases although have come down, there are families that have been devastated by the infection, especially children who have lost their parents. “We have launched the helpline so that information about these children reaches us. The district child protection officer will be the nodal officer and will also make proper arrangements for the stay of these children,” said Garg.
District child protection officer Virender Yadav said that after the district receives information about such children, the administration will keep them at a child care home in Sector 15.
“I am working to publicise these helpline numbers by pasting posters outside the police stations and prominent places so that common people can contact the helpline in case they get any such information,” said Upasna Sachdeva, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Gurgaon member.
Meanwhile, the district administration on Friday also launched a portal for the children affected by Covid-19. The portal —www.gurugramchildwelfare.org— has information about the child care homes, day care centres, sponsorship programmes and special care home for children.
