Alia’s Gangubai complete; SLB begins his next

Sanjay Leela Bhansali had been stranded in a no man’s land since his ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ heroine Alia Bhatt and he himself contracted COVID. Both recovered in due course, but it wasn’t easy to assemble every resource back together for some time. A very small part including a song had remained, but finally the filmmaker and the actress have completed the film. We hear, the balance shoot has been duly completed in Mumbai’s Film City (Goregaon).
However, Bhansali is not going to rest much. We also hear, Bhansali will commence the shooting of his upcoming web series ‘Heera Mandi’ on the very same floor where the ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ set will be dismantled. The new settings will be quickly put up and a few might also remain with minor modifications being done on them. The cameras on ‘Heera Mandi’ (produced by SLB, directed by Vibhu Puri) will start rolling once everything is ready as far as the set requirements are concerned.
A source says, “It wasn’t easy to complete ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, especially in the last leg. The new mutant (delta) of COVID in Maharashtra has infused a lot of scare in the film and TV industry. While a few restarts and beginnings have been made, we can only hope that they will sustain; one single case in a unit throws everything out of gear.”
