The AQI was 250 on Monday, down from 375 on Sunday, with Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) officials saying that the AQI is likely to remain ‘poor’ for the next two days.
Previously, the city had recorded AQIs of 349, 334, 362, 357 and 314 on Saturday, Friday, Thursday, Wednesday and Tuesday, respectively.
On Monday, all four air monitoring stations in Gurugram recorded ‘poor’ AQI. The AQI was highest at Teri Gram at 275, followed by Vikas Sadan at 243, Sector 51 at 242, and Gwal Pahari at 239.
According to HSPCB, the wind speed on Monday was at 6km/hr, which also helped in dispersing the pollutants. Wind speed was two notches down at 4km/hr on Sunday. While the AQI may remain ‘poor’ on December 27 and 28, it may improve on December 29 due to high easterly winds, which are likely to increase the ventilation of pollutants, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Gurugram, on Monday, recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The region may witness more rain till Thursday.
