Dinesh Kumar takes charge as Gurugram University VC

Gurugram: Distinguished professor Dinesh Kumar on Thursday took over as the new vice chancellor of Gurugram University. He became the second vice-chancellor of the relatively new university and succeeded Dr. Markandey Ahuja.
While taking charge, the new VC noted that the varsity has an advantage of being strategically located close to big corporates and industries and it can leverage that to fill the skilled workforce requirement of these companies.
“Gurugram University is relatively a new university and has the distinct advantage of being in the Cyber City. The university has the potential to fulfil the skilled manpower requirement of local industries and the corporate sector. The focus of the university will be on introducing courses on emerging technologies and encouraging the youth for innovation and startups so as to make the youth of Haryana Atmanirbhar,” he said.
He further asserted that the implementation of the new National Education Policy, preparing the university for NAAC accreditation and accelerating the ongoing educational and infrastructure development projects will be his top priorities.
Kumar has also been the Vice-Chancellor of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad between 2015 and 2021. The tenure of Prof. Dinesh Kumar as Vice Chancellor was marked with some notable achievements like including NAAC and NBA accreditation, and the university’s presence in the NIRF ranking at the National level.
The career of Prof. Dinesh Kumar who is an eminent academician, ardent researcher and able administrator known for his leadership abilities, spans over 30 years. Prof. Kumar was awarded with the Homi J. Bhabha Gold Medal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mysuru during the 103rd Indian Science Congress on January 3, 2016.
He was the first scientist and Vice-Chancellor of any University in Haryana to receive this prestigious award for his contribution to the development of science and technology in the country.
