Health department to trace 56k recipients who missed second dose of Covishield

Gurgaon: As many as 56,427 people who had taken their first dose of Covishield before June 30 have not taken their second shot well after the scheduled gap of 84 days. The health department said it will trace each of these recipients to ensure they get jabbed again.
“We have prepared the data of recipients due for their second shots. Our medical officers will call them up. We have also asked private hospitals to check with those who didn’t turn up for second doses,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
There are 52 Covid vaccination centres (CVCs) at 36 primary health care centres in Gurgaon. Of these, five CVCs with the maximum number of missing cases are Bhora Kalan (3,135), Bhangrola (2,270), Kasan (2,421), Farrukhnagar (2,379) and Pataudi (2,243).
“In case these people took their second doses somewhere else, they will be asked to share proof on WhatsApp so that their names can be removed from the list,” he added. The health department will set up dedicated sessions to vaccinate others.
The health department is also looking to step up vaccinations with a series of measures, including setting up camps at mandis, post office, pension office, registry office, banks and places of worship. Health officials will also call up resident welfare associations (RWAs) to check vaccination status of people.
The city on Thursday will carry out vaccination at 10 government session sites — six for Covaxin, three for Covishield and one for Sputnik. On Wednesday, 21,484 people in the 18-44 age group and 4,100 others in the 45-plus category got vaccinated. In all, 25,645 jabs — 11,761 first doses and 13,884 second doses — were given.
5 new cases in city
The city reported five new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday. The tally now stands at 1,81,160, out of which 34 are active cases. The positivity rate stands as 0.1%. Six people also recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,80,203. The recovery rate at present is 99.6%. A total of 32 patients are in home isolation while two are in hospitals.
