September 25 rally to drum up support for Bharat Bandh

Gurgaon: Ahead of the Bharat Bandh on September 27, farmers in Gurgaon will organise a ‘mashaal rally’ on September 25 to garner support for it. The call for the bandh was given by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM).
The rally will start at 6pm from Sadar Bazaar and end at Sohna Road. Pamphlets will be circulated and shopkeepers will be requested to down shutters on the day of the bandh. During the rally, farmers will also highlight how the new agriculture laws pose a threat to them.
“Nearly 200 people will join the rally. Farmers are ‘anna daatas’ and we need to stand with them in this crisis,” said Anil Pawar, All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) member.
Similar campaigns are being carried out in neighbouring districts of south Haryana, including Rewari, Nuh, Mahendergarh, Palwal and Bhiwani, to raise awareness about the event.
“We have written letters to shopkeepers and traders requesting them to join the bandh by shutting their shops and business for a day. We are also holding meetings,” said Samay Singh, BKU (Chaduni) district president, Rewari.
A local panchayat will also be held on Wednesday in Rewari’s Sheoraj Majra village where committees will be formed. “Six local panchayats have already been held and two more will be held in the next two days. Members of these committees will visit homes to spread the message,” Singh added.
The farmers also plan to protest at Rohtak-Bawal road toll plaza on September 27.
