Volunteers of PEACE Program spent a day at an old age home in Gurgaon
Members of PEACE Program, the corporate workshop wing of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan(DJJS), visited an old age home with its young volunteers under its campaign – Peace Social Connect – on Saturday.
As part of the campaign, the volunteers spent an evening at The Earth Saviours Foundation in Gurugram. The volunteers took part in fun-filled activities using props like fancy umbrellas, emoji balls, tiaras, hats, gajras, fancy sunglasses with senior citizens. This was followed by a sequence of other interesting activities such as oil champi competition with senior citizens and volunteers, paper aeroplane making, laughter yoga and dance session. The entire event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of the senior citizens.
Oil champi competition was also organised
Talking about the event,Tapeshwari Bharti, Principal Coordinator, PEACE Program, DJJS, said, “The idea is to communicate the fact that our senior citizens don’t need lavish houses to live in. What they need is simple human touch, expressions of love and compassion. If you genuinely give them a few moments of emotional exchanges, you can see them smile. So, in this way, we want to convey a message to the society that you must provide them with your time. Spend some time with them. You will see how well they respond to it.”

She added, “Our spiritual mentor Ashutosh Maharaj always says that the society has enough highly equipped and well-furnished old age homes. Now, we must build such a society that is equipped with a high moral value system so that these old age homes become obsolete. There is no necessity for old age homes. We need to build such a society where children learn to respect their parents, value their presence to such an extent that such old age homes are no longer required. Through the same, we visited there to communicate the same to the society.”
