By Times of India – Expect rain, thunderstorm in city today Gurgaon: The city is likely to experience more rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, on Monday, according to the forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). “The maximum temperature might dip by three degrees in the coming two days,” the forecast stated. The city received light rain on Sunday. The western disturbance over north Pakistan and adjoining areas is responsible for the showers in the region, IMD officials said. Apart from this, eastern humid winds are also reaching parts of north India from Bay of Bengal, therefore, thunderstorm is expected to continue in Haryana, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh for the rest of April. “In the coming week, Delhi NCR will witness rain as the part of atmospheric changes are likely to cause heavy to very heavy showers over Haryana, Punjab and Delhi. Western disturbances and eastern winds together will lead to a drop in temperatures over the northwestern plains,” an IMD official said. “Currently, both maximum and minimum temperatures are marked three degrees below normal,” the official added. The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 113 on Sunday. For the past three days, the air has remained in “moderate” category. Meanwhile, Delhi woke up to a spell of light rain on Sunday with strong gusty winds, ranging between 40 and 50 km/h. The maximum temperature stood at 31.4° Celsius — seven notches below the normal for this time of the season.
