GURUGRAM: Police of three states joined hands to rescue a Madurai-based businessman and his assistant who were kidnapped soon after landing at the Delhi airport on July 7. Five of the kidnappers were arrested on Friday night from a house in Delhi’s Shyam Nagar, where they had held the businessman and his assistant hostage for two days. KS Vilvapathy, who deals in textiles, and his assistant, Vinod Kumar, came to Delhi after one of the accused identified himself as a trader and promised to help them strike a deal with a garment factory in Bangladesh. Gurgaon: Work on three ‘nagar vans’ (city forests) in Haryana began on Friday, with plantation drives at the proposed sites in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Palwal. The move came with the state celebrating ‘Hariyali Mahotsav’ (tree festival), with the aim of creating awareness about trees and their significance and inculcating ideas on forest conservation. Each ‘nagar van’ covers 10-50 hectares of land. In Gurgaon, officials are developing a 40-hectare land in Ghata as a ‘nagar van’. They are similarly developing a 10-hectare land at NIT, Sector 4, in Faridabad and a 33-hectare land in Palwal. ख़बर सुनें गुरुग्राम। एक्सिस बैंक के पूर्व मैनेजर पर नॉन ऑपरेटिंग दो खातों की रकम का डीडी बनाकर ठगने का मामला सामने आया है। इस बात का खुलासा बैंक प्रबंधन की इंटरनल ऑडिट के दौरान मिली रिपोर्ट से हुआ। शाखा प्रमुख के बयान पर सेक्टर दस थाना पुलिस ने पूर्व बैंक मैनेजर सहित तीन लोगों के खिलाफ धोखाधड़ी का मामला दर्ज किया है। पुलिस के अनुसार शिकायत एक्सिस बैंक सेक्टर-10ए ब्रांच के मौजूदा शाखा प्रमुख अजय कुमार द्विवेदी ने दी है। साजिश के तहत ठगी का आरोप बैंक के खाता धारक रोहित, पूर्व मैनेजर दिनेश बंसल व महेश सिंह के अलावा अन्य अज्ञात पर लगाया गया है। इन पर कुल 11,82,858 रुपये की ठगी का आरोप लगाया गया है। आरोप है कि रोहित नामक व्यक्ति के ब्रांच में दो बचत व चालू खाते थे। इन खातों में क्रेडिट बैलेंस तो था, लेकिन उपभोक्ता इसे काफी समय से ऑपरेट नहीं कर रहा था। ब्रांच ने इन खातों को बंद करने का फैसला लिया क्योंकि उपभोक्ता से संपर्क नहीं हो पा रहा था। आरोप है कि अकाउंट बंद होने के बाद दो डीडी इन खातों से जारी हुए। यह डीडी 4,14040 और 7,68,818 रुपये के थे। यह डीडी किसी अन्य को देने की बजाय पुन:

GURUGRAM: The city recorded 193 new cases of Covid on Wednesday. It has been reporting less than 200 cases for four days in a row. The test positivity rate, meanwhile, rose to 4.6% on Wednesday from 3.6% on the previous day. Gurugram currently has 680 active cases, of which 31 are hospitalised. As the cases have declined, the number of patients in hospitals has also dropped. “There is still a concern about people who have comorbidities as they might face complications in the second week of infection. So, we are keeping a close watch on those who are recovering at home,” said chief medical officer Dr Virender Yadav. The health department conducted 4,173 tests on Wednesday, while 4,229 samples were tested on Tuesday. The city is conducting RT-PCR and Antigen in a 70:30 ratio, according to the department. The civic body removed all advertisements, especially put up by realtors without taking its permission along Golf Course road and Golf Course Road Extension. “Several unauthorised advertisements were displayed on unipoles, billboards and electrical poles. The illegal advertisers also included big brands and builders who have not taken permission from the MCG. We covered Golf Course Road, Maidawas Road and Golf Course Road Extension on Wednesday. The drive will continue for a few weeks,” said Amardeep Singh, MCG’s additional commissioner. The process for permission from MCG starts with online registration, where you need to apply and submit documents like structural design and site details. GURUGRAM: Four years after it was launched, the 21km elevated road from the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway to Sohna, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Delhi-NCR, finally has an inauguration date – July 11. Union road, transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the six-lane Sohna Elevated Road next Monday, Gurugram MP and Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh announced on Wednesday. The entire stretch can be opened to commuters since work on a 9km portion of the elevated road between Rajiv Chowk and Badshapur finished this week. The remaining portion of the road that connects Badshapur and Sohna was opened to commuters in April. “The project has been completed at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore and will help to reduce the distance between Gurugram and Sohna by easing traffic movement. Gurgaon: A high-powered committee against corruption chaired by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar will review the status of 74 vigilance complaints pending in MCG on Thursday. The complaints include the alleged construction and demolition (C&D) waste scam and unauthorised construction across the city in connivance with some MCG officials, TOI has learnt. Also, the complaint against the private firm managing the C&D waste plant in Basai for allegedly violating the terms of agreement is likely to be taken up. Some of these complaints were filed in 2019. MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja said, “We start an investigation as soon as we receive a complaint. A majority of the complaints that will be discussed on Thursday are related to enforcement like illegal vendors putting up carts in the designated street vending zones, encroachments of MCG or government land and poor construction quality of community centres. The scientists found evidence that antibodies–proteins produced by the immune system in response to viruses and other invaders–are involved in an attack on the cells lining the brain’s blood vessels, leading to inflammation and damage. Consistent with an earlier study from the group, SARS-CoV-2 was not detected in the patients’ brains, suggesting the virus was not infecting the brain directly. GURUGRAM: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of Rs 153.5 crore on Ansal properties for various environmental violations at its project at Sushant Lok-I. The project is spread across 600 acres in sectors 27, 28 and 43, but construction has stopped following an NGT order in 2019. The order, issued on Monday, came on a petition filed by a resident in 2018, alleging that the developer was supposed to leave 45% of the project area for green zones and a community centre, but instead sold off the plots to people for building houses. The green panel also issued a Rs 2 crore penalty on the town and country planning department for issuing a licence to the builder “mechanically” and without examining if it had fulfilled the requisite norms. Gurgaon: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed the state government to constitute a committee that will evaluate why the compensatory plantation drive for widening of the Gurgaon-Rewari highway is being considered in Panchkula, some 300km away. The green tribunal said a joint committee of district magistrates of Gurgaon and Rewari, district forest officers, and officials of the Union environment ministry and the state pollution control board have to survey the 43km-highway and submit a report within a month. “The report may particularly mention whether compensatory plantation is being considered 300km away instead of contiguous locations.” the order issued by NGT chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel said. The tribunal was hearing a petition against the “unlawful” felling of 12,000 trees in Gurgaon for widening of the highway.
