Gurugram: 1,500 illegal structures razed, three-acre land cleared along Golf Course Road
GURUGRAM: The enforcement wing of Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) on Tuesday razed around 1,500 jhuggies and shops to clear around 3 acres of land on Golf Course Road amid protest.
The HSVP is yet to clear another 4-acre land at this location. The authority, according to an official, is planning to carry a two-day long drive starting Wednesday to remove squatters from this area.
Estate officer-2 of HSVP (Gurugram) Jitender Kumar said several illegal structures have come up on 7 acres of land in Nathupur area along the Golf Course Road . The authority has cleared around 3 acres on Tuesday and remaining land will be cleared from encroachers in next two-day.
SDO (survey) Satyanarayan and his team reached at the venue around 11am and gave one hour to encroachers to take their belongings. “ However, a few people started protesting the drive. With the help of police, the demolition was carried out and we managed to clear 3 acres,” he said.
“Four teams were deployed for the encroachment drive and it continued till around 4pm,” said junior engineer Sandeep Lot adding that demolition drive will resume on Wednesday.
“The land was acquired in 2009 and owners had been given compensation by the authority,” said Lot adding that along with jhuggies there were several shops and eateries. The land is along the rapid metro line on Golf Course Road.
