Gurugram: CM flying squad unearths pension scam in Palwal

GURUGRAM: Three Palwal residents in their mid-40s were booked on Wednesday for allegedly availing benefits of the old age pension scheme through fake documents.
The alleged pension scam was uncovered by the CM flying squad during a random check in Reebad village of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, the CM flying squad visited Reebad in Hathin division of Palwal and checked pension documents of nine beneficiaries from the village. “Of the nine beneficiaries, three were found to have submitted fake documents. We are investigating the matter to find out how many more people have submitted forged documents,” said Rajendra from the CM flying squad.
According to police, the three persons — two women and a man — prepared fake age certificates and submitted the same to prove they were above 60 years in order to receive benefits from the pension scheme. The accused were 45-48 years old when they had submitted the fake documents.
Cops are also investigating the role of officials who accepted the fake documents and processed the pension. It is the duty of the clerk to check the veracity of the documents and see if they are genuine. So, it has come to our notice that the officials were aware of their real age and yet turned a blind eye to the scam,” a police official said.
