Positivity 10% in city, Hry told to ramp up testing by 5k daily

Gurgaon: Daily Covid cases in the current surge touched another high in the city on Monday, when 397 people tested positive. This was the second successive day when cases breached the 300-mark. Officials in the health department said they would increase the number of daily tests as the positivity rate touched 10% on Monday. The last time the city’s positivity rate was 10% or above was on February 5 (11.3%). So far this month, 12 patients have been admitted to hospitals. Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan and Dr VK Paul of the Niti Aayog held a meeting with the Haryana chief secretary on the Covid situation in the state, which has been seeing a spike in numbers, with the bulk of cases being reported from Gurgaon. CBSE boards: 18 in one class, isolation rooms for those with Covid symptoms

Gurgaon/New Delhi: There will be no more than 18 students in a classroom and schools will provide a separate space to anyone with Covid symptoms to appear for the Term II CBSE board exam, which begins Tuesday for classes X and XII. Around 31,000 students will appear for the written examination at 56 centres across the city and isolation protocols will be key amid a rise in the number of Covid cases being reported daily in the city, Delhi and other parts of NCR. “We had a detailed interaction with schools and told them about the dos and don’ts and how to conduct exams safely during this time. We laid special emphasis on identifying students with Covid symptoms and making special arrangements for them in a way that they don’t intermingle with other students and staff. Old Delhi Road-Palam Vihar drain won’t be widened by this monsoon

Gurgaon: Residents and commuters may have to battle waterlogging In the area between Old Delhi Road and Palam Vihar for yet another monsoon season, with civic officials saying they are likely to finish renovation of the master stormwater drain along the stretch only by the end of this year. According to officials of the GMDA, the project was divided into two phases – repair and widen the drain between Old Delhi Road and Rezang La Chowk, and then from there on to Palam Vihar. However, work on the first portion hit hurdles before work could begin. There are a lot of trees on the route that will need to be cut to widen the drain – something the GMDA is not keen on. “We are facing some issues regarding phase-1. The main problem is that there are too many trees along the stretch that would have to be cut to widen the existing drain.
