‘Baahubali’ web series paused – Exclusive

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘Baahubali’ had released to tumultuous response at the box office worldwide. Thereafter a prequel series was in the making. ETimes has now learnt that the series ‘Baahubali-Before The Beginning’ has been paused for now by the OTT platform.
The web series was to be made by SS Rajamouli initially, but it was later handed over to Siddharth Tewary’s Swastik Productions known to make periodic dramas and historicals. The series was to be directed by Kunal Deshmukh who has opted out of the project. A source said to ETimes, “The project which has now been paused has Bombay Fables taking over as creative producers.”
Earlier, ‘Kesari’ director Anurag Singh was in talks with the production house but things didn’t work out with the OTT platform.
Quite a few stars were touted to be a part of the show, including Mrunal Thakur, when SS Rajamouli was helming the project. But once the project was taken over the actress was out of it. Actress Wamiqa Gabbi was signed on to play Sivagami and South superstar Nayanthara was roped in for her digital debut. While there is no clarity on Wamiqa Gabbi to continue, Nayanthara will remain part of the series.
With change of hands once again, it remains to be seen who will now feature in the project which now has a new creative producer working on it.
