Exclusive! Kriti Sanon on pay disparity

Image
Kriti Sanon is currently enjoying the success of her recently released film on OTT in which the actress was seen playing the role of a pregnant lady. The film talks about surrogacy and Kriti Sanon impressed the audience and the critics with her enthralling performance in the movie. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, we asked Kriti Sanon on pay disparity as actors are paid more than actresses. Reacting on the same, Kriti Sanon said, “Yeah, when I do pulling the audience specially when the festival revolves more around my character, its on me, there will be more and more producers, who would feel the confidence of banking the film on me. I feel like its a circle, it kind of will even get that pay disparity. That’s how you grow I feel, in life. The only thing that I had pointed out which happens is when a male and a female actor have a similar kind of role, I feel like men don’t have to prove by having the film solely on them, to grow and to increase their price and somewhere fem

Filmmaker Ajay Bahl had to opt-out of Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Freddie’ due to a clash of dates with Taapsee Pannu’s film ‘Blurr’. Bahl when contacted said, “The makers of the film wanted to start shooting next month and Kartik’s dates and my unavailability during those dates was the reason things didn’t materialize. I am shooting ‘Blurr’ with Taapsee till early September, it was mutually decided between me and Jay Shewakramani, the producer and also a friend, that he should go ahead with the project. I wish good luck and happy times to the team.” Incidentally, ‘Freddie’ is the same film that Ajay Bahl was directing when Red Chillies Entertainment was to co-produce it. #BigStory! Confusion, comedy, chaos with B-Town names

Image
What’s in a name, Shakespeare had quipped in ‘Romeo & Juliet’. Well, TV actor Karan Kundrra is definitely not in agreement with the famous English playwright-poet-actor. In fact, we are willing to bet our last penny that he is still tearing his hair out after people recently mistook him for Raj Kundra, who is in judicial custody for a pornography case. Karan had put up a post, wherein he clearly didn’t seem amused. “My friends in the US brought this error to my notice. I also found people writing nasty things to me on my social media pages. Initially, I took it as a joke, as this confusion has been a part of my existence for a long time. People write Karan Kundrra for Raj Kundra and even use my name to refer to as Shilpa Shetty’s husband. But it went out of hand when they started using my name and picture in reports related to the pornography racket,” he wrote. Think of it, several celebrities have found themselves to be a part of a comedy (frankly, comedy is not the apt word her

Bill tabled in Lok Sabha to form air quality management panel in Delhi-NCR

Image
NEW DELHI: The government on Friday introduced a Bill in the Lok Sabha to replace the Ordinance on the constitution of the Commission for Air Quality Management in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas, exempting farmers from hefty penalties of up to Rs 1 crore and jail terms for stubble burning but retaining a provision for “environmental compensation”. The proposed legislation is meant for setting up a Commission on Air Quality Management (CAQM) to address the entire range of issues related to air pollution in Delhi-NCR through policy decisions, monitoring and enforcement of existing laws to mitigate the problem. The CAQM is currently functional, drawing its powers from an Ordinance. Farmer unions, meanwhile, continued to protest as the government has retained the provision of imposing and collecting ‘environmental compensation’ from “farmers causing air pollution by stubble burning, at such rate and in such manner, as may be prescribed” in the Bill. Though farmers would be spared from t

No matter what the ultimate truth the damage is already done.” He concluded by saying, “This vilification is a pattern. If the allegations are

AMBALA: The Ambala police registered a case of fraud of Rs 2.10 crore after a Panchkula resident alleged that he was duped on the pretext of investing the amount in a trucking company to settle with family in Canada. The real story of pornography in India

Image
According to Indian law, you cannot go to jail for watching porn, but you can be arrested for distributing or making pornographic content. That is the basic understanding by which the entire country, including the police, lawyers, judiciary, and of course the filmmakers operate. But the actual practical applications of the written law are both grey and blurry. Employing legal jargon, Section 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 says that, “Publication, transmission, and causing to be transmitted and published in electronic form any material containing sexually explicit act or conduct, is punishable with an imprisonment up to 5 years and fine up to 10 lakhs”. So, if you’re caught selling or commercialising porn, you can be jailed and fined heavily. The most talked-about infringement with relation to these laws is Raj Kundra’s arrest on July 19. The producer-businessman was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 for cheating, 34 for common intention, 292 and 293, relat

Why Shraddha Kapoor was cast as Naagin

Image
Director Vishal Furia believes in multi-tasking. The filmmaker has been on the roll. He completed work on Chhori, led by Nushratt Bharuchha, much before the lockdown was imposed owing to the second wave of the pandemic. And now, he’s expected to start shooting the remake of the Malayalam psychological thriller, Forensic, with Radhika Apte and Vikrant Massey. In a month, the film is expected to roll out in Uttarakhand. Post that, the filmmaker will head straight into Nikhil Dwivedi’s Naagin, with Shraddha Kapoor as the protagonist. “We have a timeline for Naagin but in the current scenario, everything is shifting. We plan to start early next year but it all depends on how everything else is placed around that time,” says Vishal. Interestingly, this is the second time Shraddha has given the nod to a project that has a Sridevi connection (she’s also leading the cast of Chaalbaaz in London by Pankaj Parashar). The late superstar had played the central character in Naagin and Nagina decad
