Gurugram: Sputnik V second dose to be given from July 31

GURUGRAM: The second dose of Sputnik V will be available at a government session site in the city from July 31. The first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are being administered since July 10. The two doses must have a minimum gap of 21 days.
The health department on Wednesday said it had received 4,800 doses of component B of the vaccine, which is the second dose. “We will give the second shots at the Sector 31 polyclinic, where the first shots were administered too. There will be separate counters for the first and second dose,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurugram.
The district on Thursday will carry out vaccination at 45 government session sites, of which 38 will be for Covishield, six for Covaxin and one for Sputnik V. Except the ones for Sputnik V, all other sessions will provide only second doses. A total of 8,309 people in the 18-44 age group and 3,523 people in the 45-plus category got inoculated on Wednesday. As many as 39 healthcare staff and 378 frontline workers also received jabs. In all, 12,249 shots — 7,089 first doses and 5,160 second doses — were given shots on Wednesday.
Nine fresh Covid cases in city
Gurugram reported nine new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday. The caseload now stands at 1,80,864, out of which 89 are active. The positivity rate stands at 0.1%. Seven people also recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,79,865. The recovery rate is 99.6%.
