Haryana: Food delivery man shot in Rewari, police suspect robbery attempt

GURUGRAM: A 30-year-old man working for a food delivery app was shot dead while he was on his way to hand over an order in Rewari on Sunday night. Police suspect a robbery bid because Mahendra Singh’s wallet and phone were missing.s
Around 10pm on Sunday, Singh had just reached Ansal township in Sector 19 when he was attacked by unknown assailants. He suffered a bullet wound in the stomach.
The two passersby on a scooter, the police said, took Singh to a nearby hospital. From there, he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi when his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to the bullet injury later that night.
The police said a team that inspected the spot near Ansal township found a few empty bullet shells there.
Originally from Palwal’s Hudithal village, Singh had moved to Rewari with his wife and 10-year-old son in the hope of better opportunities two years ago. Here, he started working as a food delivery executive. An FIR has been filed against unknown persons at Model Town police station.
