Auto driver’s murder: One arrested, 3 on the run
Gurgaon: A 30-year-old man has been arrested by the city crime branch for the alleged kidnap and murder of a 29-year-old auto driver. Police has identified the accused as Abhinandan, alias Kallu, who works as a cleaner on MCG’s contract. On the day of the crime, Abhinandan was accompanied by three others, an officer said.
According to the police, the crime took place on the evening of July 10 when Deepu Kumar, a resident of Shakti Park, was heading towards Khandsa from Gurgaon bus stand.
Next day, a few passersby found him lying unconscious in Sector 10 and got him admitted to Civil Hospital. The hospital authorities informed the police and referred him to Safdarjung Hospital.
Deepu told police that a few months ago, he along with Bhola, Shadu, Shourabh Mishra and Abhinandan had organised a party. After a few drinks, he had an argument with them over Rs 50 share and ended up in a physical fight. “On July 10, I was heading towards Khandsa. At Sector 10 Chowk, Bhola, Shadu, Shourabh and Abhinandan stopped my auto and got inside. They took me to an isolated place and started thrashing me with sticks. They snatched my mobile phone and Rs 20,000 cash. After some time, they took me to Hiranagar, where they again thrashed me and I fell unconscious,” he said
Initially a case was registered at Sector 37 police station under sections 364 (kidnapping), 379A (snatching) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. However, as Deepu succumbed to his injuries on July 19, murder charge was added to the FIR. Three others are absconding.
