Farmers take out ‘Kanwar Yatra’ to Tikri border

Jind: A group of around 55 youth and farmers kicked off a “kanwar yatra” with the slogan, “Kisan desh bachane nikle hai.” They carried soil from a field and water in a tractor trolley from Dhamtan Sahib village in Narwana block of Haryana’s Jind district to Tikri border.
The village, which is located at Punjab border, has been supplying milk and other goods to protesting farmers from the beginning.
Group members affixed a poster on the front side of the tractor, which said, “Kisan kavar yatra dhamtan sahib to Tikri dham.” The protesters will cover around 170 kilometres from their village to Tikri border on foot. They made a short halt at Jhanjh langar site to have food and extended their support to those who have been offering food for to farmers from Punjab and Haryana. They said that people in villages had decided to support the farmers’ agitation and to fight till their demand for repeal of the farm laws was met. The protesters, who were carrying BKU flags, raised slogans of “inquilab zindabad.”
Vedpal Nain, one of the members of the cavalcade said, “annadata have been sitting at Delhi borders, therefore, protest sites are being considered as a holy place and this year gave the opportunity to pay obeisance to farmers, who are fighting to save the land. This yatra is dedicated to protesting farmers and support is being sought amid the way to the border.”
“The yatra is aimed at awakening people from every section of society. We used to go to Haridwar every year to bring kavar but this year, the youth decided to stand by farmers for their demands,” said Gurudev Singh, a resident of Dhamtan Sahib village.
