BKU’s Rakesh Tikait ask farmers to mobilize support for Muzaffarnagar mahapanchyat
YAMUNANAGAR: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) (Arajnaitik) national spokesman Rakesh Tikait addressed a large mahapanchyat held by the farmers under the banner of Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) in Bilaspur town of Yamunanagar district on Thursday.
During the mahapanchayat, Rakesh Tikait asked the farmers to mobilize support for a big mahapanchayat against “three black farm laws of the Centre government”, to be organised in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh (UP) on September 5.
In his address to the farmers’ gathering, Rakesh Tikait said, “A mission will be started to save the country from Muzaffarnagar on September 5. The Centre government did not mention in its manifesto that it would sell public sector enterprises and one after the other the government is selling enterprises of public sectors to private players. These private players who own big companies will now exploit the people of the country.”
Speaking about the recent increase of Rs 5 in Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of the sugarcane by the Centre government, Rakesh Tikait said, “Is the government trying to give beggary to the farmers? By increasing the price by Rs 5, the government is joking with the farmers. In the north Indian states, the price is way higher than what the Centre government is offering.”
Tikait said the people of the country including youths, common men, farmers and labourers should come out on the streets to save the country from being sold to private companies.
As Muzaffarnagar is close to Yamunanagar district on UP border, Tikait invited the farmers from here to largely take part in big mahapanchayat on September 5.
“People from all walks of life should attend the big panchayat being held in Muzaffarnagar to save the country,” said Rakesh Tikait.
Tikait alleged, “The government is telling a lie on the issue of inviting farmer leaders for talk on the issue of three farm laws. Our demand is the law on the guarantee of minimum support price of crops and repeal of three black farm laws. We will not return home and end our protest until our demands are met,” said farmer leader Rakesh Tikait.
The mahapanchayat in Bilaspur was attended by farmer BKU Haryana (Tikait) president Rattan Singh Mann, Ravi Azad, Satpal Kaushik, Subhash Gurjar, Sanju Gundiana from BKU (Charuni) and other leaders.
