Supply to police training centre & Damdama lake too

Gurgaon: The police training centre in Bhondsi and the Damdama lake area will soon be maintained using recycled water rather than groundwater, with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) working towards laying pipelines from Golf Course Road (Extension) onwards for the purpose.
According to GMDA officials, the work is estimated to cost around Rs 16.6 crore and completion will require 12 months. In total, 33 million litres a day (MLD) of recycled water will be required to maintain the two areas.
“We had put forward a proposal for the supply of treated waste water to Bhondsi and from there to Damdama lake, at the last meeting of the authority in December. As directed by the chairman during the meeting, we have now written to the irrigation department regarding funds and are awaiting their response,” GMDA chief executive officer Sudhir Rajpal said.
GMDA had first received a request in this regard from the deputy inspector general of police, Recruit Training Centre (RTC), Bhondsi, in June last year. He had informed GMDA that of the 500 acres on which the facility is located, construction had been carried out on 35 acres, while the remaining area is a green zone being maintained using groundwater. He had requested GMDA to provide a recycled water pipeline up to the campus, from where the further internal network would be laid by the training centre itself.
