Gurugram: Residents here facing 10 hours outages daily

Gurgaon: Residents of Vatika Seven Lamps located in Sector 82 have been facing frequent outages — lasting 7 to 10 hours — for the past 15 days. This, coupled with their dependency on power backup, has forced the residents to shell out around Rs 28 to Rs 30 per unit as DG charges.
They alleged that the developer was supposed to build three 33kV sub-stations for the township to meet the requisite load but even after 7 years, it has failed to build adequate power infrastructure in Vatika India Next township. The highrise society is part of the township spread across 550 acre of land in sectors 81, 82, 82A, 83, 84 & 85. Around 500 families have been living in the society since 2016.
RWA president Suvankar Banerjee said that they have been facing unscheduled outages and voltage fluctuations regularly. “Every now and then, the underground cable is damaged or there is a fault in the Harsaru sub-station and as a result there are long outages. Moreover, we have no idea when the 33 kV sub-station will be commissioned,” said Banerjee.
Sushil Warikoo, an executive member of RWA said unreliable power supply is also posing a risk to residents’ safety. “On Tuesday, there was an outage from 10am till 1am on Wednesday. The lift often gets stuck when the power supply is switched over to DGs,” he said.
A representative of Vatika Enviro — management that is responsible for Seven Lamps — said, “The whole city is reeling under the scheduled and unscheduled power cuts. We have ensured our lines and machines are in top condition. The electricity line coming from Garhi Harsaru sub-station does suffer breakage due to the massive construction happening in the adjoining areas.”
Meanwhile, Gaurav Dahiya, SDO (Manesar), DHBVN said, “There is no scheduled power cut from our end.”
