Trio booked for opening fire at trader in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: Three men have been booked for allegedly targetting four shops in the last two days and shooting at one of the shopkeepers. The trio targeted three shops, one after another, in Maidawas area and robbed shopkeepers at gunpoint. Within 24 hours of the incident the group struck again and targeted a shopkeeper in sector 57.
Azad Singh (47) runs a general store in E-Block of Sushant Lok-3 in sector 57. On Tuesday, Singh along with his sons Prashant and Pankaj and one of his friends Ravinder were at the shop at around 7.30 PM when three masked youths got inside his shop. One of the youths pulled out a gun and another youth tried to take money from the cash counter. When he tried to resist one of the youths shot at Singh and fled from the spot.
Singh was taken to W Pratiksha Hospital wherein he is undergoing treatment. Based on his complaint a case was registered at Sector 57 police station under section 307 (attempt to murder), 393 (attempt to commit robbery) and 34 (common intention) of IPC and sections of Arms Act.
A day before the trio had robbed three shopkeeprs in Maidawas area one after another at gunpoint. Mahavir Prasad run a grocery store in Maidawas village for past few years. On Monday night at around 8.10 AM three youth get inside his shop. One of the youths put a gun to his head and they took away Rs 30,000 from the cash counter. “Two of them were carrying weapons. They put the money in a bag and fled,” said Prasad.
After committing robbery at Mahavir’s shop the accused went to another grocery store run by Ashok and took away Rs 45,000 at gunpoint. The then target third shop was run by Sazid Khan and took around Rs 47,000 from his cash counter and fled. Based on the complaint a case was registered under section 379A (snatching) and 34 (common intention) of IPC and sections of Arms Act.
“It seems like the work of a new group. It is still not clear if the same set of accused were behind the incident of both days. Our teams are working to track the accused,” said ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan.
