Municipal Corporation of Gurugram launches drive to clear illegal advertisement

GURUGRAM: The MCG’s drive against unauthorised advertisements started on Wednesday. The civic body removed all advertisements, especially put up by realtors without taking its permission along Golf Course road and Golf Course Road Extension.
“Several unauthorised advertisements were displayed on unipoles, billboards and electrical poles. The illegal advertisers also included big brands and builders who have not taken permission from the MCG. We covered Golf Course Road, Maidawas Road and Golf Course Road Extension on Wednesday. The drive will continue for a few weeks,” said Amardeep Singh, MCG’s additional commissioner.
The process for permission from MCG starts with online registration, where you need to apply and submit documents like structural design and site details.
Once the application is accepted, the civic body issues a letter of intent (LOI) to the advertiser who will pay a fee to the civic body. The final approval is then given by the MCG, after which an advertiser can display advertisements.
The issue of illegal advertisement was raised by the councillors in the last House meeting on June 27. Several councillors had also alleged that the business of illegal advertisements is flourishing in the city with the connivance of MCG employees.
MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja recently ordered changes in the advertisement wing .
