Ranveer: RRR is beating Bollywood at box office

Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh added some glitz and glamour to the Dubai Expo when he joined Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to discuss ‘The Global Reach of Indian Media & Entertainment Industry’.
Impossible to miss in his bright red sherwani, the actor created quite the fan-frenzy as he arrived at the venue for the interactive session. The actor made the paparazzi click-happy when he stopped to pose for photos outside the venue and even waved to the fans gathered outside.

At the expo, Minister Thakur said his aim was to make India a hub of content creation that can generate “millions of jobs” in the country and also cater to global demand. During a conversation with the Bollywood star, he acknowledged the contribution of the Indian film industry that has left “a great impact” on the people of other countries.

“India is a land of storytelling…India should be the hub. And, I personally feel, my aim in the next few years is that India should be the content sub-continent of the world,” Thakur said.

“What we tell, can travel the world so easily now,” Ranveer said in agreement.

During the interaction, the actor earned hoots and cheers when he praised SS Rajamouli’s latest release ‘RRR’. “Just look at RRR for example. It is beating all the Bollywood films at the box office. It is such a proud moment for us,” he said as he went on to sing the chorus of the hit song ‘Naatu Naatu’.

“Our stories resonate with people and transcend cultural boundaries and Indians abroad connect with India through films… Indian entertainment is going to explode globally,” Singh said.
During the meeting, the politician also joined Ranveer to shake a leg to his hit dance track ‘Malhari’ from the film ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

The I&B Minister was in Dubai for a three-day visit, during which he has participated in a roundtable with executives from the film and television industries. He also met with officials from other countries.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has a busy schedule. The actor is awaiting the release of his films and is also working on Karan Johar’s next romantic comedy ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ and Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’.
