Traffic diversions at Kherki toll plaza for cloverleaf work

Gurgaon: Traffic movement may be affected at the Kherki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway in the coming months, with the traffic police closing a stretch of two lanes, one on each carriageway of the expressway, to build a cloverleaf interchange as a part of the Dwarka Expressway project.
According to traffic officials, they have closed 200m stretches of the lanes near the Southern Peripheral Road crossing, nearly one kilometre ahead of the toll plaza on the Gurgaon side. However, commuters can instead use two service roads opened on the edges of both carriageways to minimise the impact of the closure on traffic. Vehicles going towards Delhi or Gurgaon will get diverted from the closed lanes to the newly-opened service roads and get on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway 200 metres onwards.
The closure came into force from 5pm on Wednesday, with the traffic police saying that they are likely to remain in place for the next six months. “We have closed off the right-most lanes on both sides of the carriageway, according to plans. Although traffic movement has become slower, there is no traffic jam, and vehicles are moving smoothly so far,” said Ravinder Singh Tomar, DCP (traffic), on Wednesday evening.
“One lane on each carriageway of the expressway has been closed, but we have provided service lanes via which traffic gets diverted so that there is minimal impact on commuters. It will take us nearly six months to complete work on the cloverleaf,” said a senior NHAI official.
