Gurgaon: A 50-year-old businessman slipped and fell from his 10th-floor flat balcony on Thursday morning in Sector 83. The man, identified as Raghuvinder Kumar, a resident of G21 Vatika society, died on the spot, police said.
According to the police, Raghuvinder was smoking a cigarette and enjoying the rain around 10am when he slipped, lost balance and fell down. Kumar owned multiple dry cleaning shops at different locations in the city and is survived by his wife and daughter.
Kumar’s wife had gone out to buy groceries when the incident happened while their daughter was inside the room, an officer said. The police received the information reached the spot at 10.15 am, but found Kumar dead. The cops suspect that the deceased had bent over the railing while smoking and so lost his balance and fell to the ground.
“Since, the railing of the balcony is a little low, that can be one of the reasons behind the fall. The body was sent for postmortem and has now been handover to the family. The family has denied any foul play,” said an officer. An inquest proceeding has been initiated under section 174 of The Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc), 1973, at Kherki Daula police station.
