Agnipath protests: Haryana minister says anybody involved in arson will not be spared

Haryana home minister Anil Vij.

AMBALA: Amid the row and protests against the Agnipath Scheme for recruitment in the Indian Army, the Haryana home minister Anil Vij on Friday said that anybody involved in arson or damage to public or private property will not be spared.
Vij was speaking to the media at his residence in Ambala Cantonment.
“It is the right of every person to protest. But those people who vandalise (property), or do arson cannot be the ones who join the army. Completely disciplined people join the army. There are such elements in our country who always look for an opportunity to disturb the peace of the country. This will not be tolerated in any situation,” the minister said.
Anil Vij said, “Anybody who commit vandalisation will not be spared at any condition. Complete guidelines have been issued and lists of all are being made. We cannot spare anyone who do vandalisation. You can stage dharna (protest), carry out jaloos (march) as it is your right, but you cannot resort to vandalism, and arson.”
