No licence? Municipal Corporation of Gurugram will seal ATMs with dish antennae

Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) will start sealing the automated teller machines (ATMs) with dish antennae installed on them from Saturday. Such ATMs are required to obtain a licence from the civic body. The officials said that despite clear directions that banks have to pay a processing fee, licence fee and compounding fee for each antenna installed on ATMs, they have failed to do so due to which these ATMs will be sealed.
“According to the provisions of Haryana Municipal Corporation (Communication Connectivity Infrastructure) Bylaws, 2013, bankers are required to obtain a licence from the MCG for erecting dish antenna on ATMs installed within the limits of the corporation. The ATMs installed without prior permission despite instructions issued by MCG will be sealed by the zonal taxation officers from Saturday,” said an MCG official.
Officials said that several banks have installed ATMs within MCG area limits without licence. The drive also aims to generate revenue since the ATMs sealed will have to deposit the licence fee for uninterrupted operations.
In July 2016, the Haryana accountant general (audit) had ordered sealing of around 400 ATMs in the city, which had failed to get licences under the bylaws.
