Akshay tests positive for COVID; won’t attend Cannes

Akshay Kumar has tested positive for COVID. The actor took to Twitter to inform his fans about getting infected by the virus. In his tweet, Akshay also shared that he will not be attending the Cannes Film Festival because of the same.
His tweet read, “Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid. Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. Will really miss being there.

A BMC official told ETimes, “Akshay is not added on the BMC’s list of COVID positive patients yet because they probably conducted a home test. Akshay Kumar will have to use the official app to mark himself COVID positive, following which he will have to home quarantine for 7 days, as is the standard procedure right now.”
Akshay is currently in Wai to kickstart the shooting of his next film with Radhika Madan. They were scheduled to finish the shoot this month and head to another month-long schedule in Bhor. But since Akshay has tested positive, it remains to be seen how that schedule will pan out.

Also, this is not the first time, Akshay has tested positive for COVID. Back in April 2021, the ‘Housefull’ actor had tweeted, “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself. I’m under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care. I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me to get themselves tested and take care. Back in action very soon.”

On the work front, the actor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming period drama ‘Prithviraj’. The film helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi also marks the debut of Manushi Chhillar. It has been slated to hit the theatres in June this year.
