Less than 200 Covid cases in Gurugram for third day on trot

GURUGRAM: The city saw less than 200 cases for the third straight day. It recorded 188 fresh Covid cases on Wednesday, while on Tuesday 199 new cases were reported. On Monday, the cases were 166. The positivity rate declined to 6.1% from 6.4% recorded on Tuesday, according to the health department.
The city at present has 802 active cases, out of which five are hospitalised while the rest are in home isolation.
This month, the city has added 5,612 Covid cases and one death due to the infection. In April, the city added 5,894 cases, while it had added 2,034 in March.
Gurugram has been reporting more than 100 cases from April 12-19 and then more than 200 cases from April 20-23.
On April 24, it added more than 300 cases and since then it has been adding cases between 350 and 450 brackets. It saw a decline from May 9 when it added less than 300 cases.
Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer of Gurugram said, “Yes, it looks like we are heading towards a decline in fresh Covid cases. People need to be careful as Covid deaths follow after the surge.” On Tuesday, 3,084 Covid tests were conducted in the city.
Haryana reported 257 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday. No fatalities were recorded due to the virus on the day.
