Haryana: Minor girl gives birth to child; Assam man booked

YAMUNANAGAR: A 17-year-old girl gave birth to a baby girl at the civil hospital, Jagadhri in Yamunanagar district.
The girl belongs to Assam and lived in Yamunanagar with her labourer parents and was sexually assaulted by a man of Assam on the pretext of marrying her.
On the complaint of the survivor girl’s mother, the Yamunanagar police have registered a zero First Information Report (FIR) against Rajesh of Kokrajhar district in Assam under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Farakpur police station on Friday. The case has been sent to Assam police for further action.
The complainant said that for the last about 4 years, she along with her husband lives in a rented room in Yamunanagar district and worked as labourers here.
“My 17-year-old daughter was living at my mother’s house in Assam and we went to our village in Assam on February 23, 2022. After staying there for one week, we returned to Yamunanagar along with our daughter. After staying some days, my daughter complained of pain in her stomach and she gave birth to a baby girl”, said the complainant.
“When questioned, my daughter disclosed that she was sexually assaulted several times by Rajesh of Assam on the pretext of marriage. Now Rajesh is refusing to marry my daughter”, said the complainant.
Farakpur police station house officer (SHO) Anil Kumar said, “After registering a case under POCSO Act, we have transferred it for the investigation to Assam police as the occurrence of crime is in their jurisdiction.”
