Country’s first honey trade centre to come up in Haryana’s Kurukshetra: Minister

KURUKSHETRA: Haryana agriculture minister Jai Prakash Dalal said on Friday the country’s first honey trade centre will be established at the Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre (IBDC) in Ramnagar village of Kurukshetra district.
Dalal was speaking at the two-day national conference organised on the topic of beekeeping and pollination in view of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava.
The minister said to increase the income of the state’s farmers and motivate the farmers with small landholdings for the beekeeping trade, the first IBDC in country was developed at Ramnagar, Kurukshetra at about Rs 10.50 crore.
“Now, we have come up with a scheme of establishing the country’s first honey trade centre in this IBDC. With this, the beekeepers will be able to get a fair price based on the quality of the honey they produce. Moreover, there is also a proposal to establish an export honey testing lab at this IBDC at a cost of about Rs 20 crore”, said JP Dalal.
