Gurugram: Delay in land acquisition holds up road project in Sector 71, HSVP says work on

Over 1,500 families living in Sector 71 say they face difficulty in commuting

GURUGRAM: Residents of Sector 71 are agitated over delay in acquiring land—7 acre in Behrampur and Tikrivillage, which has been holding up completion of the dividing road of Sector 72 and 72A for the past five years.
The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) in March had decided to acquire the land under Disaster Management Act and planned to appoint a land acquisition officer (LAO) for the purpose. However, residents alleged that since then, there has been no progress in the acquisition process.
More than 1,500 families living in Sector 71 societies, including Andour Heights, CHD Avenue, have been facing difficulty in commuting to other parts of the city due to lack of proper connectivity.
“We have been raising this issue for the last five years but it is yet to be resolved. HSVP approved the land acquisition in March and ordered the appointment of an LAO, who was to submit an action taken report within 15 days to chief administrator of the HSVP. But it has been two months and no work has taken place,” said Gaurav Kalra, a resident of CHD Avenue 71. The residents complained that there has been prolonged delay by concerned civic agencies due to bureaucratic hassle.
They fear that with illegal constructions and mushrooming of unauthorised colonies on the planned area it will become more challenging for the authorities to pave the way for road connectivity.
Unmukt Sharma, a resident of Andour Heights said, “If this road gets completed on time, we will be less than a km away from Subhash Chowk . But due to no direct connectivity, we are compelled to travel an extra 6 km to reach Subhash Chowk.” Meanwhile, a senior HSVP official said, “We have already prepared the acquisition plan for all the remaining pockets which have missing links across Gurgaon. Efforts are being made to complete the dividing road of Sector 72 and 72A soon.”
