At 172, Gurugram sees a slight dip in new Covid cases
Gurgaon: The city on Saturday reported 172 new cases of Covid, a slight dip from 180 cases on Friday. While 129 people have recovered, the positivity rate stands at 5.72%.
Gurgaon currently has 770 active cases, out of which four patients are hospitalised while the rest are in home isolation. A total of 3,009 people were tested for Covid by both government and private labs in the past 24 hours. “The city has been reporting less than 200 Covid cases from the last three days. The number of tests have also been maintained,” Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, said. As a precautionary measure, the health officials said that people should wear face masks whenever stepping outside to curb the spread of the virus.
The officials added that even though the cases are on decline, their focus is still on improving the coverage of booster doses. “We have directed the government offices like MCG, police department etc. to provide us a list of their employees whose booster doses are pending. We will soon set up camps at their offices so that they can be vaccinated. We have also directed the private hospitals to take the vaccine from us for their employees,” MP Singh, district immunisation officer said.
The government and private healthcare institutions vaccinated 6,809 people on Saturday, of whom 1,778 are children aged from 12 to 14 years, 3,322 people in the age group of 18 to 59 years got their booster doses.
