Buyers seek action plan on completion of Sec 68 project, protest as licence cancelled
Gurgaon: Aggrieved homebuyers of Mahira Homes in Sector 68 staged a protest outside the office of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) in Sector 14 on Friday, demanding immediate takeover of the affordable housing project and early possession of their flats.
More than 1,500 homebuyers, most of whom have already paid 100% of the amount to the developer, have been left in the lurch, with the DTCP recently cancelling the licence of the project and recommending the registration of an FIR against Mahira Infratech Pvt Ltd (formerly, Sai Asina Farms Pvt Ltd) for “forging documents and fabricating bank guarantees”.
Some 100 allottees reached the DTCP office and staged a protest, demanding to know the department’s plan of action. “We want to know about the timeline of the project takeover by DTCP and a timeline for completion of construction,” one of them told TOI.
DTCP officials said they have already initiated the process to take over the project. “The interest of allottees will be taken care of. We have directed the allottees to share with us all investment details, along with proofs, to ascertain the status of funds,” senior town planner Sanjeev Mann said. When contacted, a spokesperson for the developer said, “We are appealing against the DTCP’s decision and want to assure the allottees that their investments are safe and possession of their flats will be given on time.”
