Gurugram sees 166 Covid cases; positivity rate dips to 5.4%
Gurgaon: The city on Monday recorded 166 new Covid cases. It was after a gap of 73 days that the city saw less than 200 cases. The positivity rate has dropped to 5.4% from 7.8% recorded on Sunday.
Gurgaon at present has 970 active cases, out of which seven are hospitalised, while the rest are in home isolation. This month so far, the city has added 5,225 Covid cases and one death due to the infection.
Doctors said that the hospitalisation numbers show there’s no cause for alarm, but proper Covid-appropriate behaviour and isolation are necessary to keep the number of cases down.
Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer of Gurgaon said, “People who are eligible for a booster should get the jab and immuno-compromised people should take more precaution when stepping out.”
On Monday, 3,058 Covid tests were conducted in the city. Experts pointed out that most of the patients are getting treatment at home and few who are hospitalised are infected with the Omicron variant. “Mask is a must to ensure that the spread is minimised. We also hope that if the positivity rate continues to stay in the 5% mark for a few more days, then we are heading towards a decline,” Yadav added.
