From tomorrow, 9-day special vax drive for slums

Gurgaon: The health department will organise special vaccination camps in rural slum areas from July 1 to 9. About 200 Covishield jabs will be administered each day.
On the first day of the campaign, a vaccine bus will be used to inoculate people living in Tigra. Thereafter, the slums in Wazirabad will be covered from July 5 to 8 while the Nathupur slum area will be covered on July 9. No pre-registration will be required and the doses will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The residents of Kalu slum in Tigra’s Sector 56 will be vaccinated on July 1. The next day, the bus will visit the slums in front of Sheeshpal Vihar in Sector 49 and on July 3, people living in the slums near the taxi stand of Sector 57 will be vaccinated. On July 4, a slum settlement called Dhale ki Khushi will be covered.
Similarly, on July 5, vaccines will be administered in Indira Colony-1, which falls under Wazirabad, and on July 6 in Indira Colony-2. On July 7, people living in Ambedkar Colony near Chakkarpur village will be given the jabs and on July 8, those residing in slums near Moti Vihar in Silokhera village will be vaccinated. On July 9, the last day of the campaign, the slums located near the samadhi of Rabindra Nath will be covered.
“We are aiming to reach out to those who are still not aware of the importance of vaccination. Earlier, we had set up camps for transgenders, widows and differently-abled persons,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon. On Tuesday, 8,313 people in the 18-44 age group and 3,248 people aged 45 years or above got vaccinated in city.
8 new cases, 2 deaths
On Tuesday, Gurgaon reported eight new Covid-19 cases, taking its tally to 1,80,675. The positivity rate stands at 0.2%.
