Haryana Boxing Sangh secy suspended after extortion claims

Rohtak: Haryana Boxing Sangh, the apex body for administration of boxing in the state, in a meeting of its executive committee held at Rohtak on Sunday suspended its secretary, Ashwini Sharma, from the post and primary membership.
Sangh treasurer Capt Praveer Gahlot informed the media that the president, Major Satyapal Sindhu (retd) had been receiving complaints of extortion and allurement given to players by Ashwini Sharma and others.
He said on the advice of the executive committee of the sangh, a special committee was constituted to inquire into the allegations. On the basis of the recommendations of the committee, the EC has suspended Sharma from all positions. It was also clarified by the EC that any event or programme henceforth conducted by Sharma on behalf of the sangh would be illegal.
Ravinder Pannu, the joint secretary, would perform the functions of secretary till further orders. It has also been decided by the EC that the affiliation of the Panipat unit of the Sangh had been cancelled on the grounds of irregularities.
