Ready for rains, MCG boss takes stock of flood check plan

Gurgaon: MCG commissioner on Thursday inspected the waterlogging-prone areas in the city and gave instructions to the officials to make necessary arrangements before the monsoon arrive. MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahujainspected the machinery and manpower deployment and checked whether the MCG staff has cleaned the drains at waterlogging-prone sites or not.
Ahuja visited the Golf Course Road, MG Road, Sector 27 and Sector 28, Medanta underpass, Khandsa road, Kadipur Chowk, Pataudi road, Bus depot in Sector 10, railway culvert in Sector 9 and Sector 9A, Laxman Vihar and Sector 4 dividing road, Surya Vihar, Sheetla Mata road, Basai road among other key areas.
“I sought information from the officials on the spot and gave them necessary instructions, including that drains, road gullies, sewerage should be cleaned before monsoon. The pumps shoould be installed at the sites where there is a requirement. The residents should not face any inconvenience during rains,” Ahuja told officials.
“There are six underpasses under the zone-3 of MCG and it includes three underpasses on Golf Course Road, one each at Signature Tower, Medanta and IFFCO Chowk. We have hired 19 motors of 40 hp capacity. We have already procured 2,000 gunny bags also to address the waterlogging problem” said Hariom Attri, joint commissioner of zone-3.
MCG has recently identified 80 spots in its jurisdiction.
