Haryana: Three arrested for dragging traffic cop on car bonnet

KURUKSHETRA: The police on Monday arrested three men for allegedly dragging a traffic policeman on the bonnet of their car for about 500 metres in the Krishna Gate area of Kurukshetra district in Haryana.
The arrested accused were identified as Nurdeep alias Lovepreet of Bagthala, Manpreet of New Lakshman Colony, and Kamaljit of Salarpur Road in Kurukshetra.
Kurukshetra headquarters deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Subhash Chander said, “All three accused were produced in the district court on Tuesday, which sent them to judicial custody.”
As per the information, traffic head constable Sanjeev Kumar had lodged the police complaint on Monday at Krishna Gate police station. Sanjeev said that he was on duty at BR International Chowk in the evening on Monday and checking the vehicles.
“A Bolero car came towards the BR Chowk and it was signalled to stop. The driver did not stop and accelerated the vehicle. I caught hold of the vehicle and sat on its bonnet. The driver made efforts to drop me from the vehicle. The driver kept driving for nearly 500 metre and stopped the vehicle only after a police party managed to overtake it,” Sanjeev Kumar said.
The head constable said that he suffered injuries as he fell on the road after the car driver suddenly applied the brakes.”
“A case was registered under sections 186, 332, 353, and 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the accused were produced before a court which sent them to judicial custody,” said a police officer.
