Govt plans to build heliport in city, four flying schools

Gurgaon: Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday directed the officials of the civil aviation department to explore possibilities of developing a heliport and aero museum in the proposed Global City along the Dwarka Expressway in Gurgaon.
He also said in the meeting that the possibilities of running flying schools on public-private partnership (PPP) basis at four locations in Haryana are being explored. While tenders have been signed in Mahendergarh and Bhiwani, these schools could also open in Karnal and Pinjore, he added.
Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of the civil aviation department, said that at present there is no aero museum anywhere in the country. “If it is built in Gurgaon then it will be the first of its kind. Moreover, if the heliport is built here, it will boost industrialisation and trade in the city and its surrounding area. Efforts would also be made to build the heliport and aero museum on a PPP basis,” he said.
The Global City project will come up in land acquired by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Harsaru village, Gadholi Khurd, Mohammadpur Jharsa and Khandsa, which falls (or fall?) along the Dwarka expressway. The announcement of the project was made in July 2018.
Chautala also said that work is being done to make Haryana a hub of industries in the field of aerospace and defence. For this, an aerospace and defence policy is being prepared. He added that the state is already leading in the auto sector and now a target has been set to invite more industries by making aerospace and defence policy so that Haryana can become a hub in these sectors as well.
