Razing of illegal colony: Now, FIR against former Gurugram BJP MLA

GURUGRAM: In a twist of events, an FIR has been filed against former Gurugram BJP MLA and two of his associates on Friday for defamation, forging court records and circulating them on social media after a complaint by district town planner RS Batth.
On Wednesday, former legislator Umesh Aggarwal’s associates had filed a plea alleging contempt of court against the official and his team for carrying out a demolition drive in an illegal colony in Sector 77’s Shikohpur village on June 10. According to the court summons shared on social media by Aggarwal — which was forged, according to Batth — six persons, including Batth, were supposed to appear before court on July 1.
On the basis of the complaint filed by Batth, Sector 14 police have registered an FIR under sections 466 (forgery of record of court), 469 (forgery for purpose of harming reputation), 499 (defamation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) against Aggarwal, Deepak Chugh and Manorama. Chugh and Manorama are owners of the land on which the illegal colony was allegedly being constructed by Aggarwal.
Speaking to TOI, Batth said he had filed a complaint against them for forging the summons and circulating it on social media with the intention to harm his reputation. “We carried out demolition of illegal and unauthorised structures on their land in Shikohpur, where they were attempting to develop a residential colony. During and after the demolition drive, Aggarwal claimed that I violated a court stay order and threatened to file a contempt of court case against me and my subordinates,” he said.
Before carrying out the demolition, the due process was followed and show-cause notices and restoration orders were served, but the trio continued to carry out construction, he added.
When contacted, Aggarwal said he is taking legal opinion in the matter and “action will be taken accordingly”.
