Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’, ‘RRR’ clash unlikely

So, we heard a lot of noise a few months back when ‘RRR’ and ‘Maidaan’ were announced to be releasing on the same date. Rajamouli and Boney Kapoor were certain that it was going to be October 13, 2021, for them- and nothing else. But the most uncertain thing in this world- life- and more so in today’s times had other plans in store.
‘RRR’ is far from complete and we hear that the film will be released now in April 2022. A lot of VFX and post-production work is still left to be done.

On the other hand, ‘Maidaan’ too has also been forced to have a change in plan. The Tauktae cyclone killed many people and damaged an immense amount of property in parts of India, yesterday. ETimes broke that story first on May 20, 2021 (see below) that the cyclone hadn’t spared Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ set on the outskirts of Mumbai either. Luckily there had been no casualties on the set but the set on which Devgn was supposed to shoot a large part of the remaining film stands badly damaged, nearly to the point of complete destruction.

Team ‘Maidaan’ went back to shoot at the same venue but using only a small part of the ground on August 20. The shoot in question however lasted for 3 days.
The remaining portion of ‘Maidaan’ will now be shot in October now as it needs a larger area of the ground, which is now being fast recurated and relevelled. Thus, it is clear that October 13 is ruled out for ‘Maidaan’. ‘Maidaan’ produced by Boney Kapoor and directed by Ajay Sharma, besides Devgn, stars Keerthi Suresh, Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in important roles.
‘RRR’ produced by K V Danayya and directed by Rajamouli stars NTR Junior, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in important roles.
Boney, Danayya and Rajamouli remained unavailable for comment.
