Kriti: Would love to play Madhubala, Meena Kumari

Kriti Sanon isn’t resting on the laurels of playing a surrogate mother in ‘Mimi’. The actress is also keen on doing biopics of Hindi film personalities, too. Just recently, in a brief conversation with ETimes, the actress mentioned that she is keen about playing Madhubala’s role in her biopic. Speaking about her favourite actresses, she revealed, “There are certain personalities in our film industry who have been iconic and whose lives I feel people don’t really know much about. But people should know about them. And apart from Madhubalaji, I would love to play Meena Kumariji in her biopic. Both were iconic heroines of their time and I personally too would love to learn more about them.”
Incidentally, there has been a lot of interest within the film industry around the biopic of Madhubala. The late actress’ sister Madhur Bhushan is keen on producing a film on the life and career of Madhubala. Not just that, there were reports that director Tigmanshu Dhulia wanted to make a biopic on Meena Kumari which was supposed to have Vidya Balan, who opted out of the project. Latest reports suggest that a web series is being planned on Meena Kumari’s dramatic life now.

While Kriti has expressed her desire to play the roles of these superstars actresses from the 60s, she also just recently turned muse for fashion designer Manish Malhotra for his ethnic collection. It would be interesting to see if Kriti’s ethnic avatars turn out to be precursors to her portrayals of Meena Kumari and Madhubala.

Right now she has multiple movies in the pipeline which include ‘Adipurush’ with Prabhas, ‘Ganpath’ with Tiger Shroff,’Bachchan Pandey’ with Akshay Kumar and ‘Bhediya’ with Varun Dhawan that is complete.
