Attack on Kashmiri: 1 held, cops say fallout of work row

Gurgaon: A senior colleague of a Kashmiri youth who was beaten up by four masked men last week was arrested on Monday after police identified him as the chief conspirator.
Bhuvnesh, police said, had felt insulted by Tariq Ahmed Bhat’s raised voice during an argument they had at work and decided to teach him a lesson. Bhat (24) was attacked in Sector 44, where the fintech company they work for has its offices, on August 20 evening.
Along with Bhuvnesh (29), Lucky (28) and Prashant (28) were also arrested on Monday. All three have been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 34 (common intention) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Police are still looking for the fourth accused.
Police said Bhuvnesh and Bhat argued over Bhat using his personal phone to call a client, which Bhuvnesh had objected to, citing company rules. “Bhat had responded in a harsh tone, which had left Bhuvnesh feeling insulted. Bhuvnesh shared the incident with his friends, who suggested Bhat should be shown his ‘limits’,” said Jasvir Punia, SHO of Sushant Lok police station.
Bhat, who had said after the incident he wasn’t sure about staying on in Gurgaon, said police had made him feel safe throughout the investigation. “The police have been with me throughout the probe. I am glad the accused have been arrested. I feel relieved now,” said Bhat.
Punia told TOI, “The case has no communal overtones. This could have been resolved within the confines of the office, but things went in a different direction. We are on the lookout for the fourth suspect and will find him soon.”
A notice was sent to Bhuvnesh’s residence in Faridabad, asking him to appear at the police station. Similar notices were sent to Bhuvnesh’s friends Lucky, a resident of Delhi’s Mahavir Enclave, and Prashant, who lives in Gurgaon’s Dundahera.
