2 liquor traders shot in front of Pataudi home

Gurgaon: Two brothers, who were liquor traders, were shot by six assailants in front of their house in Pataudi’s Khod village on Friday. Over two dozen rounds were fired at the duo, one of whom was a former councillor.
Police said the murders are a fallout of personal enmity between two groups in the village, but possibility of a gang war has not been ruled out. The traders, identified as Surjeet Singh Thakran and Paramjeet Singh Thakran, allegedly had links with a gangster. They also had a feud with a group of villagers, police said. Paramjeet was formerly a zila parishad councillor, police said.
The murder was captured in a CCTV camera installed at a nearby house. In the footage, Surjeet and Paramjeet can be seen standing outside their house, interacting with a neighbour, while two women and a child are on the other side of the road. Six youths, all in black and with faces covered by masks, arrive at the spot in two bikes. Five of them are seen walking towards Surjeet with pistols in hand and opening fire.
The neighbour is seen being driven away by the youths, who first shoot Surjeet and then fire at Paramjeet before fleeing. Police said the brothers were shot around 9.15am. The attackers fired indiscriminately and pumped more than two dozen bullets at them. “The duo was taken to a hospital in Pataudi. They were later shifted to Medanta hospital but succumbed to their injuries. Both had multiple bullet injuries,” an officer said.
An FIR was filed against Ajay, Rohit, Sandeep Goriyawas, Dinesh, Dinesh, Dharmendra, Dhanpat, Jassu and several other unidentified people after a complaint by Ajit Singh, a relative of the duo, under sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of IPC, as well as relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Police said Rohit, Ajay and Dinesh have been identified in CCTV footage of firing. Danpat and Jassu are accused of planning the murder. “It seems to be a case of personal enmity. Several teams are working to trace the accused. We are also scanning CCTV footage and conducting technical surveillance,” ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said.
This is the second incident in the past four months in which a group of people attacked a family in rural Gurgaon, killing more than one member. Last year, as a result of fallout of an old feud between two families, some men barged into the house of a former sarpanch of Kasan village and opened fire at the family, killing five.
