‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ gets UA certificate

Alia Bhatt’s film Gangubai Kathiawadi has been awarded an ‘UA’ certificate, by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with four modifications including deletion of two scenes and replacement of words in two dialogues of the film.
Of the total changes made in the film, the duration has been reduced by only a minute or two and a scene that features India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, embedding a rose on Gangubai, has been suitably modified.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is loosely based on the life of Gangubai Harjivandas whose life was documented in the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The film depicts the rise of a simple girl from Kathiawad, who had no choice but to embrace the ways of destiny and swing it in her favour.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also features Ajay Devgn and Vijay Raaz in important roles.
