Haryana: Man sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping minor relative

AMBALA: The Ambala district fast track court on Monday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a 14-year-old girl.
Kulwinder (28) of a village in Ambala district was sentenced under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act with a fine of Rs 25,000.
In default of fine, the convict will have to undergo additional RI of six months.
The convict was also sentenced to five years of RI under Section 452 (trespass) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with a fine of Rs 5,000 and two years of RI under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
As per the court order, all his sentences will run concurrently.
The Ambala police had registered a case against Kulwinder under Section 6 of POCSO Act and 452 and 506 of the IPC at Ambala Sadar police station on August 28, 2020.
In its order, the court of ASJ Singh said, “…the convict deserves no leniency. In the case in hand, prosecutrix a small girl of 14 years of age was subjected to aggravated penetrative sexual assault by accused who was her uncle in relation. In the present scenario, crime against children is on rise and the trauma the prosecutrix is bound to suffer is lifelong.”
